About Dr Rachael Anforth

Dr Rachael Anforth is a Specialist Dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists based in Canberra ACT.

 

After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle in 2008, Dr Anforth completed her Intern and Resident years at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Following this Dr Anforth completed a PhD in the skin side effects of BRAF Inhibitors used in the treatment of melanoma through the University of Sydney and Western Clinical School (Westmead Hospital), while concurrently participating in a number of clinical trials and research projects all within the Dermatology field. In particular Dr Anforth was involved in the diagnosis and management of skin toxicities of systemic oncology agents and has published widely on this topic.

Dr Anforth undertook her specialist training in adult and paediatric dermatology throughout NSW/ACT including Orange Dermatology, The Skin Hospital Darlinghurst, St Vincents Hospital, The Canberra Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital. 

Dr Anforth is involved in teaching of medical students as well as mentoring/supervising of junior doctors. She is a Staff Specialist at The Canberra Hospital and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at ANU.

Medical Dermatology

Dr Rachael Anforth is qualified in all areas of Dermatology, including but not limited to:

  • Skin cancer detection and surveillance

  • Hair loss

  • Acne and Rosacea

  • Rashes including eczema and psoriasis

    • Biologic treatments

  • Pigmentary disorders such as vitiligo

  • Blistering disorders

  • Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)

  • Vulval dermatology

Dr Rachael Anforth offers the following procedures

  • Skin biopsy

  • Excision of skin cancers including basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and melanomas

  • Cryotherapy (freezing)

  • Phototherapy (Narrowband UVB)

  • Photodynamic therapy

  • Intralesional steroid injections

  • Scar management (including keloid and acne scarring)

  • Botox injections for hyperhidrosis

Microneedling using SkinPen® is available for management of conditions including:
